The Associação F/SOS – Fotografia, Solidariedade e Obras Sociais had the honour of welcoming the President of the Portuguese Republic, António José Seguro, to the Centro Cultural e de Congressos das Caldas da Rainha for a visit to the exhibition They Fight For Us Too, presented as part of the F/262 – Festival Internacional de Fotografia.

The exhibition brings together the work of 20 Ukrainian photojournalists who document the human consequences of the war in Ukraine. Through photography, the project bears witness to loss, resilience, dignity and hope, while preserving the memory of a conflict that continues to affect millions of lives.

The President was accompanied by Vítor Marques, Mayor of Caldas da Rainha, Conceição Henriques, Councillor for Culture, Ricardo Mendes, CEO of TEKEVER, Filipa Martins, writer and Global Head of Communications at TEKEVER, João Carlos, photographer, curator and director of F/262, Pedro Brás, President of Culturcaldas and of the União de Freguesias do Pópulo, Coto e São Gregório, and Mário Branquinho, Director of the Centro Cultural e de Congressos.

During the visit, João Carlos guided the President through the exhibition and presented the curatorial concept behind the project, highlighting the role of photography as a tool for memory, testimony and civic responsibility. At the end of the visit, the President received the exhibition catalogue and met members of the organising team.

In recognition of his support for culture, freedom of expression and the social value of photography, President António José Seguro was named Honorary Member of the Associação F/SOS. The distinction was formally presented during the visit and marks a significant moment in the history of the association.

For F/SOS, this visit represents an important acknowledgment of the cultural and civic mission that guides both the association and the F/262 Festival: to use photography as a space for dialogue, reflection and solidarity.

They Fight For Us Too remains on view at the Centro Cultural e de Congressos das Caldas da Rainha until 30 December 2026.
