We are proud to share that the Photography Festival Sustainability Handbook, developed by F/SOS – Fotografia, Solidariedade e Obras Sociais, has been featured as part of the Go Green – Shaping Sustainability Through Photography initiative.
Created as a practical and open framework, the handbook supports photography festivals in adopting more responsible and transparent practices. It translates sustainability into clear, actionable steps across governance, production, mobility, materials, and public engagement.
Rather than remaining theoretical, the handbook provides concrete tools, including guidelines for artists and suppliers, carbon awareness strategies, and practical templates that can be applied across different festival contexts.
The upcoming F/262 – Festival Internacional de Fotografia (16 May – 20 September 2026, Caldas da Rainha) will serve as a real-world testing ground, implementing and refining these principles through exhibitions, educational programs, and community-driven initiatives.
This recognition reinforces F/SOS’s commitment to positioning culture as an active force for environmental and social change, using photography not only to reflect the world, but to help shape a more sustainable future.
